Gelareh Bagherzadeh Memorial Lecture
VIEW EVENT DETAILS“Voice of the youth in Iran” is how Gelarah Bagherzadeh described herself. Her family and community describe her as voice for freedom and political change.
A voice for peace and justice.
A voice of hope.
A voice silenced too soon.
Gelarah Bagherzadeh, a local student-activist, dreamed of a free Iran and dedicated herself to the Iranian people’s struggle for democracy and liberty. Asia Society Texas Center, in partnership with the Bagherzadeh family and members of the local community, will gather to honor her legacy of human rights advocacy at the first annual Gelareh Bagherzadeh Memorial Lecture.
Presented in English and Farsi, the inaugural event features well-known psychologist Dr. Nehzat Farnoody, who specializes in helping individuals, families, and communities cope with cross-cultural conflict. All are invited to explore the psychology of democracy, the power of cross-cultural communication to resolve conflict, and the promise of healthy communities.
