Exhibitions: Artist Talk by Manjari Sharma
VIEW EVENT DETAILSIn her presentation, contemporary artist Manjari Sharma will discuss her photography on view as part of the Texas Center’s current exhibition, Transcendent Deities of India: The Everyday Occurrence of the Divine. Sharma will explore her work that recreates classical images of gods and goddesses pivotal to mythological stories in Hinduism.
Members enjoy free admission to the Louisa Stude Sarofim Gallery, now showing Transcendent Deities of India, during regular gallery hours: 11:00 am – 6:00 pm.
About Manjari Sharma
Manjari Sharma (b. 1979) is an internationally published photo-based artist born and raised in Mumbai, India, and based in Brooklyn, New York. Sharma's artwork is rooted in the study of relationships, personal mythology and experience. Her work can be found in the permanent collection of Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and has been showcased in group and solo shows both in the United States and abroad. Sharma was awarded first place for the 2014 Curator's Choice award from CENTER, Santa Fe, and has had features and interviews with New York Times, Nikon Asia, NPR, Time, Huffington Post, CNBC, Mumbai, and The Times of India Group.
