Educator Workshop on East Asia: Geostrategic Forecasting
VIEW EVENT DETAILSPresented in partnership with the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia – Houston, with generous support from the Freeman Foundation
Schedule
Thursday, February 27, 2025
7–9 p.m.
Join Asia Society Texas for this professional development session for educators! Learn to bring geography and politics together by developing a strategic forecast for an activity you can easily incorporate in your own classes.
The workshop starts with discussions on the five themes of geography — location, place, human-environment interaction, movement, and regions — to examine their relevance in both geography and non-geography courses. Next, work in small groups to apply these themes in various East Asian countries and in subnational contexts, examine where challenges are likely to exist, and discuss strategies that these countries can adapt to mitigate the challenges.
All attendees will receive two hours of continuing education credit. We will be joined by Carrie Liu Currier, the Director of the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA) in Texas.
Support for this program is generously provided by the Freeman Foundation.
