Crash Course in Business Chinese


Doing business in China? This beginner-level course will provide adult language learners with the skills you'll need to use Chinese in the business world. The course will cover etiquette, client meetings, appointments, interviews, office interactions, negotiations, and other skills for use in a business context. Students will create a foundation for long-term study or simply acquire the skills necessary for basic communication with Chinese businesses. This class emphasizes listening and pronunciation skills and does not require the memorization of written characters. Previous Beginner I or other Mandarin Chinese experience is recommended.

Materials for the course will be provided.

Course Dates

Saturdays, September 15 – November 17 (10 weeks)
11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

About the Instructor

Hua Xiao

Hua Xiao is currently a Mandarin Chinese teacher at the International Leadership of Texas. She graduated with a Masters in Applied Linguistics for Teaching Chinese as a Second Language and received a Bachelor's Degree in Education. With over 10 years of language teaching experience, she is also an advanced-level English-Chinese interpreter specializing in the fields of medicine and finance.
