Last year's concert with Iranian vocalist Mahsa Vahdat was so stunning that we invited her to return. This time, she will be joined by her equally talented sister, Marjan Vahdat, along with gifted instrumentalist Pasha Hanjani (ney/flute), Atabak Elyasi (setar/lute), and Ali Rahimi (daf/frame drum).
The Vahdats possess two of the finest voices of their generation. In the West, they have made a name for themselves by shining a brilliant light on Persian music, old and new. With limited access to public stages in their homeland, they often take to the road, bringing with them lush songs of love and lost, heaven and earth. For this visit, the Tehran-based ensemble has created a special program to celebrate the U.S. tour of the Cyrus Cylinder. It is a fitting pairing. With each concert, this stellar group of musicians stands as a beacon for the power of creative expression.
