AsiaFest 2019 New Date

Exhibitions | Volunteering | Vendors | Performance Schedule | Parking | Sponsorship and Support 

Eat, shop, and play at Asia Society's annual festival! An international bazaar, performances, arts and crafts, fusion cuisine, live demonstrations, and more await at this FREE indoor event.

New this year:

  • Embark on an adventure through Asia, using our passport to explore different regions' traditions, cultures, and food!
  • Guests are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite family-friendly Asian pop culture character. All costumed guests ages 18 and under are invited to participate in a Costume/Cosplay Contest at 1 p.m. upstairs during the festival.

This event is FREE and open to the public.

In Super Sarap, artists Mik Gaspay, Jeanne F. Jalandoni, Charlene Tan, and O.M. France Viana revisit commonplace objects and food within Filipino cooking to elicit personal and collective memories and to challenge cultural norms associated with food.

Site Lines: Artists Working in Texas

In Site Lines: Artists Working in Texas, the works of Texas-based artists Ambreen Butt, Abhidnya Ghuge, Beili Liu, Jun Nguyen-Hatsushiba, and Prince Varughese Thomas address themes such as the value of work, cultural memory, and the importance of place.
On view April 13 – August 18, 2019


Volunteering

Become a part of the fun by volunteering for AsiaFest! Asia Society is looking for volunteers to assist onstage and in the family activity areas, the galleries, and throughout the building. Two shifts are available: 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and 1 – 5 p.m. To volunteer for the event, please contact kellison@asiasociety.org or 713.496.9917.

All performances are free admission and will take place in our Brown Foundation Performing Arts Theater on the first floor of our building. The entrance is located in the Grand Hall directly across from our switchback staircase. Food and drink are not allowed in the theater. Accessibility ramp is located across from the elevator.


Parking

Paid parking is available in the Asia Society Texas Center parking lot across from the building on Southmore Boulevard. Entrances are located on Caroline Street and Austin Street. For additional details about accessing the Museum District — including Metrorail, cabs, and more parking options — please visit the Houston Museum District website.
