APAC and PC event: Private Tour at Fotofest
VIEW EVENT DETAILSJoin Asia Society's Asia Pacific Arts Circle (APAC) and Presidents Circle (PC) for a private tour of International
Discoveries II, FotoFest's current exhibition showcasing the world of contemporary photography. FotoFest Senior Curator Wendy Watriss will lead this special event.
Employing the latest technologies in contemporary photography, the artists in this show explore issues of
globalization, hybrid identity, and cultural otherness. Among the featured photographers: Wei-Bi and Kurt
Tong from China, Malaysia's Minstrel Kuik Ching Chieh, Britain's Rizwan Mirza, and Korean-born Mimi Youn. They were selected by FotoFest at international photography events from Singapore (Singapore International Photography Festival) to Paris (Paris Photo) to Portland, Oregon (Photolucida).
A truly global exhibition, International Discoveries embraces photographers from China to Mexico. According to
Watriss, 'This deeply multicultural exhibition celebrates the beauty of the still image.' The exhibit also
explores photographic processes as diverse as Polaroid and inkjet technology.
Discover these new photographers and hear their stories on Wednesday, December 2, at Fotofest, 1113 Vine St. in Downtown Houston. The event is free and open to our APAC and PC members only.
RSVP required to Aliya: [email protected] or call 713-439-0051, x19.
We are grateful to Fotofest for this opportunity.
