Cultivating Global Leaders for the 21st Century—Young Leader's Institute 2016: China
Houston, Texas, February 24, 2016 — Give your child the skills they need today for success tomorrow by registering him/her in Asia Society Texas Center's inaugural Young Leaders Institute, a week-long program that prepares high school students for the challenges of the 21st century job market.
This summer, Houston and area high school students will learn the critical qualities needed for leadership in a globally interconnected world. June 20 to 24, (2016), the Young Leaders Institute will focus on China's global challenges, including cybersecurity, climate change and energy cooperation, and military challenges involving the South China Sea. Students will address these issues by engaging in the four tenants of global competency: Investigate the world — Recognize perspectives — Communicate ideas — Take action.
Students will learn the value of collaboration as they work in teams, researching, debating, and presenting solutions for the challenges facing our world. They will be mentored throughout the week by local experts and Asia Society's staff in their respective fields.
Students interested in participating in the Young Leaders Institute should complete an application and submit a letter of recommendation online by Friday, April 8, 2016. Students will be notified of acceptance by Wednesday, April 20, 2016. Due to a generous donation, the Institute will be offered free in 2016. Applicants are encouraged to apply early. The application process is competitive and spaces are limited.
