China's Reform Program and Its Implications for US-China Relations
HOUSTON, June 23, 2014 — Christopher K. Johnson of the Center for Strategic and International Studies discusses China’s reform program and its implications for U.S.– China relations. According to Johnson, President Xi Jinping's new approach is "the most comprehensive reform package since the 1980s," when Deng Xiaoping initiated the opening-up and reform policies. Johnson also stated that despite the ups and downs of the U.S.-China relationship, our economies are interdependent which allow us to avoid Cold War tensions.
