Learn More
Each week, we'll share a variety of videos, articles, webcasts, resources, and more from around the web — all curated by Asia Society Texas Center staff to reflect the broad interests and goals of our mission. In this digest, learn about resources and partner organizations to help supplement learning for students, families, educators, and adults.
Learning Resource: Facing History and Ourselves
Amid the ongoing global pandemic and a powerful reckoning on race and justice, how do we meet the needs of our students? What kind of education do they need right now? Asia Society Texas Center's Education and Outreach team recommends Facing History and Ourselves' back-to-school resources collection as a resource for educators this fall.
Organization: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Houston
As this challenging new school year starts, many Houston-area youth are in need of mentors. The Education and Outreach team recommends volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters, an outcomes-driven, one-to-one mentoring model that can have a huge impact on a student's life.
Learning Resource: National Consortium for Teaching about Asia
Looking to incorporate more content about East Asia in your curriculum this year? National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA) is an initiative to encourage and facilitate teaching and learning about East Asia in elementary and secondary schools nationwide.
Lesson Plans: Asian Americans on PBS LearningMedia
Create an inclusive environment in your classroom by including the voices of Asian American history into your curriculum. Supplemented by short videos and detailed lesson plans, the PBS docuseries Asian Americans delivers a bold, fresh perspective on a history that matters today, more than ever.
