Join Asia Society Northern California for a cooking experience with Chef Ranjan Dey, who will teach us how to make a delicious chicken curry from his kitchen using the top five spices to boost your immune system: turmeric, ginger, cayenne, garlic, and cinnamon. If you wish to follow along at home, the ingredients for his recipe can be found here.
This Tuesday, August 18, program is free for Asia Society Northern California members and $15 for the general public.
Virtual Pillow
Jacob's Pillow, the longest-running dance festival in the United States, now comes directly to you for free — with their first-ever virtual festival. Though Virtual Pillow has been running since July 7, you can still catch some of the classic performances from the last decade and learn from leaders in the field of dance with a curated series of PillowTalks.

Listen: Solace by Alam Khan
Alam Khan, accomplished sarode player and one third of the group Grand Tapestry, who joined Asia Society for a performance at Miller Outdoor Theatre in 2019, has released a new album! On the release this July, Khan noted: "My father taught me the art of Alaap for many years, and I would say this has been the most important aspect of my understanding of various ragas. Alaap is considered by many to be one of the most advanced and nuanced areas of Indian classical music, and in my case was taught early on throughout my formative years. I would say this training in Alaap was key in my understanding of raga, and sense of aesthetics and style. Close your eyes, calm your mind, and let the music take you away."
