Private Tour: Re-Orientations. A Dialogue between Europe and Islamic Art
VIEW EVENT DETAILS[INVITATION ONLY] A Private Tour at the Kunsthaus Zürich

Re-Orientations – Europe and Islamic art, from 1851 to today, is an exclusive production created by the Kunsthaus Zürich. Presenting a wide variety of exhibits, the presentation reveals the importance of Islamicate cultures to Western fine and applied art, from Wassily Kandinsky to Gülsün Karamustafa. Numerous artworks from India, Iran and Uzbekistan, as well as Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, amongst others, are represented in the exhibition – featuring over 150 works of art from drawings and paintings to installations and films, brought together to set up a unique dialogue between Europe and Islamic Art.
Re-Orientations is an artistic plea for a continuation of the transcultural exchange between East and West, South and North, extending beyond ethnic, religious and national boundaries. It is a critical examination of how we deal with our cultural heritage. The exhibition places the works in the context of developments in society: historical explanations and definitions help to elucidate the selection and interrelationships of artistic positions.
We are pleased to invite you to a private tour of the Re-Orientations exhibition at the Kunsthaus Zurich on March 24 – the opening day of the exhibition. Curator Dr. Sandra Gianfreda will be present to personally welcome us. After the tour we will enjoy an apéro together and continue the conversation over drinks and light refreshments.
