North Korea Today
VIEW EVENT DETAILS[IN GERMAN] A Conversation With Rüdiger Frank
A film team from the Swiss Alpine Museum toured the mountainous Korean peninsula during the brief thaw in relations between the two Koreas (2018/19). In the exhibition Let's Talk About Mountains, they present their filmic approach to North Korea in micro-stories of an everyday existence that you won’t see on TV.
While the individual videos are uncommented, a series of conversations is accompanying the exhibition. With Rüdiger Frank, professor for economy and East Asian society, we will talk about how North Korea is doing today: How does the country's political system actually differ from that of other countries'? What role do regional and global powers play for it? How has the country reformed in the last few decades, and what effect did these reforms have for its citizens in particular?
This event is co-hosted with the Swiss Alpine Museum. The conversation will be held in German.
