Gen A: Roundtable with Doris Son
VIEW EVENT DETAILSFor our second Gen A Roundtable, we are delighted to have Doris Son guide us through her creative journey, discussing how her work addresses societal challenges and fosters meaningful dialogue between cultures. Join us for a discussion on how art can challenge conventions and create connections across communities.
Doris Son is a Zurich-based curator whose work focuses on contemporary art. Her transdisciplinary practice connects art history, science, and socio-cultural discourses. Through her exhibitions and projects, she addresses pressing societal issues, offering new perspectives and building ties with diverse communities.
In 2017, she established Body Archive, a flexible platform for contemporary art and dialogue. This initiative explores the body as a central theme in its political, cultural, and social dimensions. Projects such as Hard Body Soft Core, an interdisciplinary online exhibition, and Authenticity as a Service at Zurich’s Karl der Grosse demonstrate how Body Archive connects artistic expression with critical discourse through refreshing formats. She is also the co-founder of Haus Gawaling, an artist residency in the Swiss Alps that provides a retreat for creative exploration.
Her projects increasingly focus on fostering connections between Zurich and Seoul, supporting cultural exchange and collaborations between emerging Swiss artists and the international art community.
Doris’ practice reflects an engagement with the interplay of humanity, the environment, and society. With her ability to shape narratives and her sensitivity to both urban and natural aesthetics, her curatorial work challenges conventions and opens new paths for artistic expressions.
