In 1979, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) signed an agreement with China to cooperate on conservation – thus becoming the first international conservation organization to work in China at the Chinese government's invitation.

What has been achieved in the past four decades? How has the regulatory environment for foreign NGOs in China changed over the past years, and how has the organization responded to these developments? How does WWF China manage the balancing act of closely collaborating with the government on the one hand, and challenging it on the other? And which strategies are used to raise awareness within China's population of the importance and urgency of conserving nature?

Join us for an exclusive conversation with WWF China’s CEO, Winnie Lu, who will share her perspective on what it’s like working for an international NGO in China. This event is jointly organized by WWF Switzerland and Asia Society Switzerland. Ms. Lu will join us live from Beijing via the conference platform Zoom.
