Executive Roundtable: The Future of Europe-China Relations
VIEW EVENT DETAILS[INVITATION ONLY] A Conversation with Markus Borchert, President of Nokia Greater China and CEO of Nokia Shanghai Bell
In May, Chinese President Xi Jinping made his first visit to Europe in five years, amidst a challenging period in Europe-China relations. Concerns over growing trade imbalances, government subsidies in key industries, and China's continued support for Russia are straining the relationships between European countries and China. Europe is focusing on ‘derisking’ strategies to balance engagement with caution. Meanwhile, China is making strides in the tech and green energy sectors – but is also grappling with an economic slowdown, a severe real estate crisis, ongoing crackdowns, and industrial overcapacities.
Where does Europe stand in its geopolitical and geostrategic positioning vis-à-vis China today? How are European policymakers and businesses approaching ‘derisking’ in their engagements with China? What impact are China's advancements in the tech sector, particularly in the semiconductor industry, having on Europe-China relations in terms of trade and foreign policy? And how can Europe stay connected with China, while at the same time managing an increasingly tense geopolitical environment?
Join us on Aug 7 for an off-the-record Executive Roundtable with Markus Borchert, President of Nokia Greater China and CEO of Nokia Shanghai Bell, who will address these – and your – questions.
