Join our Book Salon where we read and discuss Asian books.
This time we will read Janice Y. K. Lee's The Piano Teacher.
Set in Hong Kong before and after World War II, Lee paints the lives of the different societies living in the British colony at the time. Two lovers are caught up in the turmoil of the Japanese invasion, ten years later one of them starts a new liaison. This is the debut novel of New York based Janice Y. K. Lee, born and raised in Hong Kong, the child of Korean immigrants.
