In celebration of our 60th Anniversary and honoring the legacy of John D. Rockefeller 3rd, Asia Society presents The 2016 Legacy Dinner with a panel on “The Art of Collecting,” a unique conversation on the hunger for art and the pursuit of connoisseurship. What drives one to be a collector? How do collectors decide what to collect? Why do they look at Asia? How do collectors think about the future of their collections? This event brings together a distinguished and respected panel to discuss some of these burning questions.

Japanese American Lisa Holt-Hodsdon is an artist specializing in painting and design, while her husband Jacob is a wood-turner. Jacob draws inspiration for the dolls from the natural beauty of wood, with Lisa adding color and design to create their own unique interpretation of the traditional Kokeshi dolls, believed to bring prosperity, joy, and a sense of safety to any space they occupy. Each doll is a unique, one-of-a-kind, signed piece of art.
