Stephen Harper
Managing Partner, New Horizon Real Estate Group
Steve Harper is Managing Partner of New Horizon Real Estate Group, an operating partner in SRS Capital Partners and a founding principal in SRS Family Office Partners and SRS Capital Advisors. Active in Asia for over thirty-five years with some twelve years as a corporate expat in the region, his expertise includes a wide range of international business, finance, real estate, corporate management and governance.
Among his assignments in Asia, Harper has served as the senior expatriate officer of AMRESCO Japan, a subsidiary of Australia-based global real estate and financial services firm Lend Lease, with Japan AUM of more than $US500 million. He also served as a director of two affiliated companies, one co-owned with Merrill Lynch Japan, and the other with Cargill Japan, and held the additional post of statutory auditor for the firm. Harper has also served as Senior Research Analyst in the U.S. Department of Commerce/U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service in the U.S. Consulate General, Hong Kong.
Prior to the formation of New Horizon, Harper was Senior Vice President of the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation, an internationally prominent business and civic organization, for which he directed the international, investor relations, marketing and corporate communications programs, while serving concurrently as President and CEO of the World Trade Center Association Los Angeles-Long Beach, a subsidiary of the LAEDC.
Harper holds a B.S. in economics, summa cum laude, from the California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and an MBA in international business from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business IBEAR Program. He has served on the Board of Governors and the National Board of Directors of both the USC and Marshall School of Business Alumni Associations, and as a USC Ambassador in China, Japan and the US. Harper has been active with the Asia Society for 30 years.
