Out of the Gobi: My Story of China and America with Weijian Shan
VIEW EVENT DETAILSAsia Society Southern California, in partnership with the USC US-China Institute, is delighted to host an event with Weijian Shan on August 19. Dr. Shan's recently published national bestseller, Out of the Gobi: My Story of China and America, is a memoir that traces his life from his time in a farm labor camp in China's Gobi Desert during the Cultural Revolution to being one of the first PhD students from the People's Republic of China at the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Shan currently is the chairman and CEO of PAG, a private-equity firm in Hong Kong, and previously was a managing director of J.P. Morgan and a professor at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
