On July 24, 2024, Asia Society Seattle hosted an executive roundtable on an AI-Powered Future in Asia with Alvin Wang Graylin, Global VP of Corporate Development at HTC, and co-author of Our Next Reality: How the AI-Powered Metaverse Will Reshape the World. Alyssa Worsham, Partner at WSGR’s Seattle Office, served as the moderator.

Graylin delved into the transformative impact of AI and immersive technologies on our lives and the world, in the fields of business, health, governance, and international relations. He highlighted the rapid advancements in AI, particularly in Asia, and the global competition in this field. He also discussed the need for a safe and responsible AI-powered future, addressing bias, disinformation, and job displacement. His examined  the importance of international regulation, education, and funding for detection and countermeasures towards AI risks.

Graylin answered questions on concerns over toxic information, and privacy concerns, emphasizing the importance of controlling content and ensuring reliability and individual confidentiality. In regard to societal concerns associated with AI, he emphasized the importance of multilingual information and cultural understanding in harnessing the power of AI for positive change.
