Season of Australia
Join Asia Society from September 2024 through January 2025 for a dynamic look at Australia from its role as a Pacific power to a focus on indigeneity, and much more.
Our global Season of Australia programs will explore Australia's cultural history and current affairs, and include artist talks, policy discussions, performances, films, family activities, and more as well as a closer look at Indigenous communities and concerns in Australia and in Asia.
The Asia Society Museum in New York is proud to anchor this season with the exhibition Maḏayin: Eight Decades of Aboriginal Australian Bark Painting from Yirrkala, the first major exhibition of Aboriginal Australian bark paintings to tour the United States. Comprising more than 70 modern and contemporary masterpieces, the exhibition is conceived, developed and curated by leaders of the Yolŋu people who inhabit Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory of Australia.
