Research Assistant , Indian Carbon Market

Theres Thomas is a Research Assistant on the Indian Carbon Market at the Asia Society Policy Institute, where she works with Nishtha Singh, Assistant Director of Climate. Her previous work experience has been in generating evidence and estimating the employment potential of climate action through nature-based solutions like seaweed cultivation, mangrove restoration, eco-tourism and more.
Before joining ASPI, Theres worked as a consultant at CEEW. Her responsibilities also included drafting a comprehensive roadmap for mainstreaming the green economy, which involved identifying the roles of various state departments and the private sector, as well as analyzing associated risks and challenges while proposing mitigation strategies. Theres also has prior work experience in working on the Emission Trading System for air pollution.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics (Hons) from DU and a Master’s in Public Policy from Kautilya School of Public Policy, where she specialized in Government and Society. Her master’s thesis delved into understanding the scope of Nature-based Solutions within the carbon market. Additionally, during her college years, Theres worked on producing and recording podcasts to discuss policy and amplify overlooked voices, sparking action, one episode at a time.
Outside of work, she enjoys watching world cinema, trying new cuisines, and swimming.
