Senior Program Officer, Asia-Pacific Sustainability
Songyee Jung is a Senior Program Officer for Asia-Pacific Sustainability at the Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI). At ASPI, she researches the development of carbon markets in Asia focusing on the Chinese emissions trading system and supports ASPI’s sustainability portfolio.
Previously, Songyee worked as a commerce and energy researcher at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Washington D.C., where she worked closely with senior-level diplomats providing policy analysis to determine what impacts various legislative, regulatory, and marketplace initiatives will have on the global energy trends and South Korea.
Prior to joining the Korean Embassy, Songyee worked as a consultant at the Climate Investment Funds to provide market research on low-income countries, and associate at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in North American Representative Office. Songyee is also currently a Woman Leaders in Energy Fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center.
Songyee holds an MA in International Development Studies from George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs and a BA in International Affairs from the University of Texas at Austin.
