Lucia Lavric Joins Asia Society Policy Institute's Carbon Markets Team

Thursday, April 10, 2025 — Asia Society Policy Institute is pleased to announce that Lucia Lavric has joined as the Associate Director of Carbon Markets. In the role, she will develop and deliver projects to support the introduction and implementation of emission trading systems (ETSs) in major Asian economies. Her work will include assessing the competitiveness, carbon leakage, and economic impacts of these policies, as well as other climate and energy policies.
”ASPI’s Carbon Markets team continues to expand with the addition of Lucia Lavric, who brings deep expertise in the assessment of economic impacts of ETSs and development of effective policy designs that can support economic development whilst achieving climate goals, a critical challenge for the new ETSs under development in Asia,” said Alistair Ritchie, ASPI’s Director of Asia-Pacific Sustainability.
Since 2001, Lucia has worked on climate mitigation and energy economics projects related to more than twenty-five countries. She has contributed to or led consultancy projects for organizations such as the European Commission, EuropeAid, the German Development Agency, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the World Bank, UN Development Programme, and UK Government bodies. This included multiple impact assessments and ex-post evaluations to support the development of ETSs in the EU and internationally.
“Lucia’s expertise in econometric modeling is a huge asset in helping governments better understand the costs and benefits of their climate strategies and will help us deepen engagement with the emerging economies of Asia, especially at this volatile moment for global markets,” said Rorry Daniels, ASPI’s Managing Director.
Lucia holds a MSc in Economics, with Merit, and an MSc in Environmental Sustainability, with Distinction, both from the University of Edinburgh. She is based out of Scotland. Members of the media interested in interviewing her should email [email protected].
