John Lee and Ambassador Pierre Andrieu Join Asia Society Policy Institute's Center for China Analysis

Wednesday, April 2, 2025 – The Asia Society Policy Institute’s Center for China Analysis (CCA) is pleased to announce the addition of two new fellows: John Lee, Fellow on Technology, and Ambassador Pierre Andrieu, Senior Fellow on China-Russia Relations.
Mr. Lee currently serves as the TOY Senior Fellow at Asia Society Switzerland, where he will make regular visits, beginning with the Oxford Debate LIVE in Zurich on April 7. In addition to his work with Asia Society, Mr. Lee is the director of East West Futures, a researcher at the Leiden Asia Centre and a visiting fellow at the ISEAS–Yusof Ishak Institute, National University of Singapore. He co-leads the China Semiconductor Observatory project, funded by the European Union, and is a member of the European research consortium Digital Power China. Previously, he was a senior analyst at the Mercator Institute for China Studies in Berlin and held positions at the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade as well as the Australian Department of Defence. Mr. Lee recently joined CCA Fellow Lizzi C. Lee on a CCA–AS Swiss Center co-produced episode of China’s DeepSeek Moment to explore China’s robotics revolution and what it means for global competition.
Amb. Andrieu’s distinguished diplomatic career includes an appointment at the Quai d’Orsay’s Asia Division, where he oversaw China, Hong Kong, and Mongolia, and five years at the French Embassy in Russia. His ambassadorial postings include Tajikistan and Moldova. Currently, Amb. Andrieu teaches international relations at various French universities, serves as an external professor abroad, and is active with foreign policy institutes. He is the author of Géopolitique des relations russo-chinoises[The Geopolitics of Russo-Chinese Relations] (Presses universitaires de France, 2023). As part of CCA’s China-Russia program, he will provide critical expertise on the evolving relationship between Beijing and Moscow.
