Haeyoon Kim
Senior Program Officer

Haeyoon Kim is a Senior Program Officer at the Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI) based in Washington, D.C. In this capacity, she coordinates and manages projects related to U.S.-Asia trade policy and women’s empowerment.
Prior to joining ASPI, Haeyoon worked for the Korean Foreign Ministry, serving as a senior economic researcher at the Korean Embassy in D.C., and as a political researcher at the Korean Consulate General in New York. She also worked for the organizing committee for the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang as an interpreter and communication manager.
Earlier in her career, Haeyoon worked for English newsrooms in Seoul, including the Korea JoongAng Daily and Arirang TV, and served as a board member of the Asian American Journalists Association’s Seoul chapter. She wrote country reports on Korea for The Asan Forum and published an analysis in the annual Joint U.S.-Korea Academic Studies Journal by the Korea Economic Institute of America in 2019.
Haeyoon holds a Master’s degree in public administration from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University, and a Bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
