About
As global geopolitical and ideological competition deepens, citizens' perceptions toward China are set to increasingly shape the direction of world affairs. Global Public Opinion on China (GPOC) aggregates worldwide polling data to better inform debates and support China-related decision-making among the world’s governments and policy communities, including in China itself.
The project is led by Andrew Chubb, with research assistance from Daria Bolgolyubova, Inés Sanchez Valer, Kate Wyld, Tyrique Mowatt, Abu Zafar, and Olivia Timbrell. The visualization engine is built by Schema Design, with valuable input from Jing Qian, Jie Gao, Jennifer Choo, Inger Marie Rossing, and Megan MacMurray. Thanks are due to the many experts who shared data and provided invaluable suggestions at various stages in the preparation of the project, including Laura Silver, Bruce Dickson, Junming Huang, Bates Gill, Richard Turcsanyi, Kristina Kironska, Shigeto Sonoda, Takashi Inoguchi, Kangwook Han, Ng Ka Lun Glen, Darrell Bricker, Nik Samoylov and Dani Madrid-Morales, and the dozens of experts who engaged with the beta version. Special thanks to Gabriel Wallin of Lancaster University’s School of Mathematical Sciences for expert statistical advice.
The GPOC project is provided as a public resource. Its underlying database comprises published survey findings from the array source listed on the front page. In all cases, the project team has endeavored to identify and reference the preferred citation method for each source included, but corrections or additions are welcome.
