Global Launch of the Book "On Xi Jinping" by the Hon. Dr. Kevin Rudd
VIEW EVENT DETAILSWhat Does Xi Jinping Truly Believe, and What Are His Plans for China and the World?
In his new book, On Xi Jinping: How Xi’s Marxist Nationalism Is Shaping China and the World, the Honorable Dr. Kevin Rudd leverages his experience as a public servant, prime minister, diplomat, and China scholar to explore the question on everyone’s minds: How should we understand the dramatic political and policy shifts that Xi has introduced, both domestically and internationally? Based on his Oxford University doctoral research and extensive use of primary Chinese sources, Dr. Rudd identifies the key patterns in Xi’s ideological worldview and examines what they reveal about China’s future trajectory and global impact.
To further explore these questions, New York Times journalist Li Yuan will join Dr. Rudd and Orville Schell, Arthur Ross Director of the Center on U.S.-China Relations, for a conversation on how Xi Jinping’s worldview differs significantly from those of the leaders who preceded him and how this ideological shift is reflected in real-world Chinese policy and behavior.
This is a co-hosted event by the Asia Society Policy Institute’s Center for China Analysis and the Asia Society Center on U.S.-China Relations.
