Article 6 of Paris Agreement and Northeast Asian Carbon Market
VIEW EVENT DETAILSInternational Conference in Seoul, South Korea
At the international level, Article 6 has become one of the most important elements under the Paris Agreement in terms of facilitating cooperation on implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) by sharing the outcome of mitigation reduction activities through the concept of “International Transferred Mitigation Outcome (ITMO).”Northeast Asia accounts for more than a quarter of global emissions while also being home to major economies undergoing development phases of domestic carbon markets. Forming a Northeast Asian Carbon Market could introduce region-wide carbon pricing schemes and regional cooperation on implementing low carbon development projects, policies and programs.
Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI) is pleased to join the Climate Change Center, CSDLAP, Coalition for Our Common Future, and the Center for Global Climate and Marine Governance in co-hosting the International Conference on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and the Northeast Asian Carbon Market. This one-day event will include keynote speeches and panel discussions by leading sustainability experts answering key questions as to what needs to be done in order to promote regional cooperation on low carbon projects, policies and programs through a carbon market in Northeast Asia.
