Emma Whitmyer
Senior Program Officer
Emma Whitmyer is a Senior Program Officer for the Asia Society Policy Institute (ASPI) in New York. She works with ASPI's Vice President of International Security and Diplomacy Daniel Russel on issues relating to East and Southeast Asia. Prior to joining ASPI, she was a Junior Scholars Fellow with the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Whitmyer has a Master's of Global Affairs & Policy from Yonsei University in South Korea, as well as a Bachelor's from Eastern Michigan University in International Affairs and Business German.
Her commentary has been featured in major media outlets including NPR, The New York Times, and East Asia Forum. She is also a part of the NCAFP’s Emerging Leaders Program: Next Generation Korea Peninsula Specialists (2024 cohort), the Wilson Center’s 2024 NextGen US-ROK Leadership Program, the George Washington University Institute for Korea Studies (GWIKS) North Korea Program (2024 cohort), the National Committee on North Korea’s ‘Knowing North Korea’ Program (2024 cohort) and The Korea Society’s Kim Koo Professional Series (2022 cohort).
