Asia Society Conversations: Internet Survival Guide
VIEW EVENT DETAILSThe Dos and Don'ts of Internet Use
The advent of the internet and social media have made it much easier to do a number of things. Communication has evolved into leaving comments and instant messaging online, public image has moved from magazines to Instagram and Twitter feeds, and shopping and banking can now be done from the comfort of your own home. However in today’s world of convenient online services, there are still practices and habits that people can and should improve upon. ASIA SOCIETY CONVERSATIONS: INTERNET SURVIVAL GUIDE aims to discuss the topic of useful techniques to improve habits of internet use. The discourse will focus on the importance of using the appropriate language to use when communicating online, learning to use social media to maintain and develop one’s public reputation, and being familiar with practices that secure the safety of all kinds of data.
Representatives from different volunteer organizations will come together to discuss their experiences working in volunteerism and the benefits that they feel it can bring to those being aided as well as the volunteers themselves.
Our panel will consist of:
John Rubio - Facebook Philippines, Country Director
Atty. Francis Acero - National Privacy Commission (NPC), Chief of Complaints and Investigations
Earl Michael "Oz" Arcilla - DiG (EON Group), Head of Accounts
Our moderator will be Mitzi Borromeo, Broadcast Journalist
