The Art of Natori
MANILA, February 29, 2008 - Manila’s finest feasted on a celebration of Asian culture and Filipino chic at Asia Society Philippines’ annual fundraiser, The Art of Natori Gala Dinner and Benefit Show, held at the Makati Shangri-La.
Co-organized with Asian Cultural Council Philippines, the show celebrated renowned Filipino fashion icon Josie Natori's 30 successful years in the luxury retail industry, showcasing her latest lingerie and ready-to-wear collections alongside the culture that inspired it.
Shadow puppeteers, gamelan musicians, and other performers provided entertainment during cocktail hour, while indigenous musician Grace Nono and Javanese Opera artist Martinus Miroto performed breathtaking numbers before the fashion show.
Characterized by her signature style: luxurious fabrics, attention to detail, and a distinctly Asian flair, Natori’s collection was well received by the discerning crowd, led by Asia Society Philippines chair Doris Magsaysay Ho, founding chair Washington SyCip and vice-chair Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala.
Proceeds from the benefit went to Asia Society’s various educational and cultural programs and Asian Cultural Council’s scholarship grants.
The Art of Natori was presented by BDO Private Bank and American Express Peso Platinum Card, in cooperation with MARRECO, NOKIA, Rustan’s and Stores Specialists, Inc.
