YPG Goes LINsane!
On March 12 Asia Society’s Young Professionals group (YPG) hosted a LINsanity! happy hour event to watch Jeremy Lin and the New York Knicks battle the Chicago Bulls. Over cocktails, beers and pub grub, the group cheered hometown hero Lin along with members of the Harvard Club, who co-hosted the event. Although Lin, a Harvard alum, and his Knicks played well and kept the score close, in the end they couldn’t pull it off and the Bulls nabbed the win.
The game’s outcome didn’t dampen the spirits of the 40-plus attendees who showed up at Kells Irish Pub on Jackson Street to mingle with old friends and make new connections, and the warm tavern provided a comfortable atmosphere to network with like-minded individuals in the City’s Financial District.
This was the third gathering of the re-vamped YPG; previous events included an evening of Taiwanese beef noodle soup with an award winning chef from Taipei, as well as a panel event where American expats shared their stories of living abroad in various Asian countries. The YPG plans to host an event every other month, and upcoming programs include networking events with the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP), a re-created Asian night market in the Mission District and a trunk show featuring Asian and Asian American designers.
