Press Freedom in the Age of the Coronavirus
With Maria Ressa
On Wednesday, May 13, 2020 Asia Society Northern California hosted Maria Ressa, CEO and executive editor of Rappler.com and Time magazine's 2018 "Person of the Year," in a discussion on how authoritarian leaders are taking advantage of the coronavirus crisis — including the Philippine government’s recent shutdown of the TV network ABS-CBN. Ressa also discussed how governments and political actors weaponize social media. The conversation was moderated by NPR London Correspondent Frank Langfitt.
