YPG Presents: "Then They Came for Me" Exhibition Tour & Picnic
VIEW EVENT DETAILSJoin the Asia Society Young Professionals Group for this educational and poignant tour of the Then They Came for Me: Incarceration of Japanese Americans during WWII and the Demise of Civil Liberties exhibit on Saturday, June 1st from 11 to 1 pm at the Presidio. Meet with the group and experience a private docent-led tour of the multimedia exhibition, which tells the story of the forced removal of 120,000 Japanese American citizens and legal residents from their homes on the West Coast during World War II without due process or other constitutional protections to which they were entitled.
Presented January 18 – September 1, 2019, at the Presidio in San Francisco, the exhibition features imagery by noted photographers commissioned by the U.S. government’s War Relocation Authority including Dorothea Lange and Clem Albers, along with photographers Ansel Adams, Toyo Miyatake, Paul Kitagaki Jr. and others. It tells the story of the forced removal of 120,000 Japanese American citizens and residents from their homes during World War II without due process guaranteed by the Constitution.
Then They Came For Me is presented by the Jonathan Logan Family Foundation in partnership with the National Japanese American Historical Society and J-Sei.
We thank our friends at the Jonathan Logan Family Foundation for their partnership and generosity in offering us this private tour of the exhibition at no cost for our members and community. Please RSVP through Eventbrite so that we have an accurate headcount for the tour and snacks.
Following the tour, please join our group in a picnic in the Presidio for some light bites and discussion. Read more about the exhibit at ThenTheyCame.org.
