Join Asia Society Northern California for an off-the-record discussion with Chairwoman of Esquel Group, Marjorie Yang, and Managing Director of Brands and Distribution at Esquel Group, Dee Poon to discuss their visions on making a difference in the business and philanthropic world in relation to women’s empowerment and gender equality, and how their experiences have shaped their successes.

About Our Speakers
Marjorie Yang is Chairwoman of Esquel Group, a Hong Kong- based textile and apparel manufacturer which produces apparel for clothing brands and retailers including Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo Boss, Muji and Anta. Marjorie has been Chairwoman of Esquel since 1995. She inherited the family business from her father,founder Yang Yuanlong. From 2008 to 2014 she oversaw a rapid expansion of the business, more than doubling its revenue. As part of her philanthropic efforts, Marjorie established the Esquel-Y.L. Yang Education Foundation in 2003. The mission of the Foundation is to “encourage the spirit of learning”. The Foundation looks to help children in rural communities gain better access to education and encourage them to become good citizens in their communities. Marjorie also serves as the first female chair of the Seoul International Business Advisory Council and an independent non-executive director for HSBC Hong Kong and Swire Pacific. She holds a Gold Bauhinia Star by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.
Dee Poon is the Managing Director of Brands and Distribution at Esquel Group, a global leading textile and apparel manufacturer with operations located worldwide. She is on the board of several institutions including the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (Hong Kong), the International Advisory Committee of Harvard University’s Asia Center (Cambridge, MA) and the Board of Directors for the Esquel - Y.L. Yang Education Foundation. She was selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and designated a Fellow of Aspen Institute’s China Fellowship Program. Dee is actively engaged in the arts and sits on the International Council of The Museum of Modern Art (New York) and the International Council of The Museum of Modern Art (New York).
