With San Francisco Consuls General from Australia, India, and Japan
On February 11th 2025, Asia Society Northern California had the pleasure of hosting a public program exploring the Quad and its role as a pivotal Indo-Pacific partnership. Consuls General from the member-states of Australia, India, and Japan gathered to discuss recent international developments and what those developments mean for the future of the Quad.
This session was moderated by Vinod “Vinnie” Aggarwal, distinguished Professor in Political Science and Director of the Berkley APEC Study Center at UC Berkeley, and featured speakers Chris Ketter, Consul General of Australia in San Francisco; Dr. K. Srikar Reddy, Consul General of India in San Francisco; and Yo Osumi, Consul General of Japan in San Francisco.
The panelists covered how the Quad member-states plan to move forward in the coming years with regard to the new U.S. administration, security concerns involving China, regional economic interests, and how the Quad relates with other partnerships like ASEAN and AUKUS. Each panelist gave distinct insight into various topics, yet all agreed that the Quad would benefit from increased cooperation and the bolstering of shared values.
