June 21 , 2023  —  Asia Society Northern California hosted Matt Murray, U.S. Senior Official for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) for a special discussion on APEC 201: Where are we Headed Now? Matt Murray first provided a refresher on APEC foundations, as well as the latest news on APEC and the various ministerial and senior official’s meetings that have been taking place throughout the year. He covered priorities ahead of the Leaders’ Summit which will be held in San Francisco in November for the first time. This program was moderated by Ambassador Scot Marciel, Oksenberg-Rohlen Fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University, and former U.S. Ambassador to Myanmar from March 2016 through May 2020.

Maryam Muduroglu, Chief of Protocol for the Mayor’s Office of Protocol for the City of San Francisco also provided remarks on the efforts of San Francisco in hosting this exciting event in November.
