Asia Society President and CEO Kevin Rudd wrote an op-ed on February 17, 2021 in the San Francisco Chronicle titled Silence is Consent to Anti-Asian Racism in California and Around the World which includes the following quote: "The Asia Society was established in the United States 65 years ago. Our mission since then has been to promote intercultural understanding, diversity, and inclusion. Any form of racism, let alone racial violence, is abhorrent to our institution. Indeed, any form of racism or racial violence against any minority is equally abhorrent.”
Asia Society Northern California Chairman, Ken Wilcox, issued the following statement on March 29, 2021: "To all of our many constituencies, we are the Asia Society. Since our founding in 1957, we have worked to help Americans understand Asian countries, cultures, and political systems. Our hope has always been that with understanding comes empathy. With empathy comes engagement and ultimately peaceful relations. We do not tolerate racism, and we collaborate with all those who are working to prevent it, in our city, in our country, and in the world at large. Please join with us in working to STOP violence again Asian Americans."
