Video: Women's Empowerment in Japan
On Tuesday, Asia Society hosted a special discussion about the changing role of women in Japanese current affairs. Masako Mori, a member of Japan's Diet and former minster of gender equality, described economic and societal barriers Japanese women face in the workplace, the status of Prime Minster Shinzo Abe's "Womenomics" agenda, and women's participation in emergency preparation after the Fukushima nuclear crisis. Asia Society Policy Institute Vice President Wendy Cutler moderates the discussion.
