Last night, Asia Society hosted author, television commentator, and veteran Indian journalist Saeed Naqvi and Columbia University research scholar Philip K. Oldenburg for a conversation on the deliberate and inadvertent acts that have "otherized" 180 million Muslims in India. This is a topic explored in Naqvi's most recent book Being the Other — The Muslim in India. The evening began with a lecture by Naqvi and was followed by a stimulating conversation with Oldenburg before the two took questions from the audience.
