Photos: Center on U.S.-China Relations Celebrates its 10-Year Anniversary
The Center on U.S.-China Relations at Asia Society celebrated 10 years of building bridges between the world's two largest economies during an evening of collaborative music and conversation. Celebrants enjoyed live music performances from banjo-guzheng duo Abigail Washburn and Wu Fei as well as the renowned traditional Chinese musician Wu Tong, who presented the U.S. premiere of his newest chamber piece Water Way in collaboration with visual artist Clifford Ross.
Following the performances, the evening continued with insightful conversations on the shifting U.S.-China relationship with Arthur Ross Director of the Center on U.S.-China Relations Orville Schell, departing New York Times Beijing Bureau Chief Edward Wong, author and Sterling Professor of History emeritus at Yale University Jonathan Spence, editor of ChinaFile and senior fellow at the Center on U.S.-China Relations Susan Jakes, author and the Leroy B. Williams Professor of History and Political Science at Harvard University Roderick MacFarquhar, and author and director of the Keck Center for International and Strategic Studies at Claremont McKenna College Minxin Pei.
