SxSE: Selections from the Asia Society Museum Collection brings together video artworks created since 2000 by South and Southeast Asian artists reflecting current artistic trends in the region. Many of the works included in the exhibition focus on the socioeconomic and environmental impact rapid urbanization has had on local communities. The selection also highlights the growing disparity between tradition and modernity as a result of the region’s booming youth culture and young people's desire to participate on a global platform.

The Asia Society Museum Collection comprises a traditional art collection, composed of the initial bequests of Mr. and Mrs. John D. Rockefeller 3rd, and a contemporary art collection, which focuses on video and photography.
