Asia Society is delighted to host Mr. Brian Hook, special representative for Iran and senior policy advisor to the secretary of state, for an address and discussion with Josette Sheeran, president and CEO of Asia Society.
Speakers
Brian Hook is the U.S. Special Representative for Iran and Senior Policy Advisor to the Secretary of State. Prior to this appointment, he served as Director of the Policy Planning Staff at the U.S. State Department. From 2009-2017, he managed an international strategic consulting firm based in Washington, DC. He held a number of senior positions in the Bush Administration, including Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizations; Senior Advisor to the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations; Special Assistant to the President for Policy in the White House Chief of Staff’s office; and Counsel, Office of Legal Policy, at the Justice Department.
Josette Sheeran is President and CEO of the Asia Society, and also serves as the UN Special Envoy to Haiti. She is former vice chair of the World Economic Forum, and Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme. She served as a diplomat and negotiator for the United States, including as U.S. Under Secretary of State for Economic, Business, and Agricultural Affairs, and as Deputy U.S. Trade Representative.
