Join us for a very special evening featuring two prominent women leaders on the global stage. Arianna Huffington is among the world’s most influential figures in the media industry. In less than a decade The Huffington Post has grown into one of the best-known media brands in the world. The news outlet boasts not only a huge readership, but it has also been recognized with a Pulitzer Prize. This year its growth has included the launch of WorldPost, a signature home to global news and information on the web. Josette Sheeran is the seventh President of the Asia Society, which is a founding partner of the WorldPost. Sheeran and Huffington will engage in a wide-ranging and insightful discussion on leadership and media in the 21st century, and explore insights into success and well-being, the topic of Huffington’s new book Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom, and Wonder. They will bring a special focus to bear on Asia, a continent that is experiencing unparalleled change and that is rapidly becoming a trendsetter in this new media era.

Part of our President's Forum, a series of programs in which the president of Asia Society hosts conversations with prominent guests on a broad range of topics, including politics, economics, culture, and the media. Arianna Huffington is the chair, president, and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post Media Group, a nationally syndicated columnist, and author of 14 books. In May 2005, she launched The Huffington Post, a news and blog site that quickly became one of the most widely-read, linked-to, and frequently-cited media brands on the Internet. In 2012, the site won a Pulitzer Prize for national reporting. In 2013, she was named to the Forbes Most Powerful Women list. In 2006, and again in 2011, she was named to the Time 100, Time magazine's list of the world’s 100 most influential people. Originally from Greece, she moved to England when she was 16 and graduated from Cambridge University with an M.A. in economics. At 21, she became president of the famed debating society, the Cambridge Union. She serves on several boards, including EL PAÍS, PRISA, Onex, The Center for Public Integrity, and The Committee to Protect Journalists. She is the author of 14 books. Her latest, Thrive — The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom, and Wonder, debuted at #1 on The New York Times bestseller list.
Josette M. Sheeran is the seventh president and CEO of Asia Society. In the position, which she assumed in June 2013, she is responsible for leading and advancing the organization's work throughout the U.S. and Asia, and across its disciplines of arts and culture, policy and business, and education. She is former Vice Chair of the World Economic Forum, Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme, and Deputy U.S. Trade Representative. In 2011, Forbes named Sheeran the world's 30th most powerful woman; Foreign Policy has listed her among its top 100 women on Twitter; and Sheeran's TED Talk on ending world hunger has been viewed more than one million times.
