Love Child - New York Premiere

VIEW EVENT DETAILS

HBO and Asia Society present
New York Premiere of the HBO Documentary Film

Love Child

Dir. Valerie Veatch. 2014. South Korea/USA. 75 minutes.
In English and Korean with English subtitles

Love Child explores the growing issue of Internet addiction through the lens of one couple who in 2010 were on trial in South Korea for the negligent death of their infant daughter due to their obsessive online gaming. Director Valerie Veatch (HBO’s Me @ the Zoo) skillfully weaves a tale of personal tragedy together with social commentary, shining a light on how embracing new technology can have unforeseen negative consequences. Love Child documents the first trial for internet addiction and subsequent ruling that set a global precedent in a world where the lines between real life and virtual reality can blur. An official selection at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, Love Child is also executive produced by John Legere, CEO of T-Mobile.

Post-screening discussion with Valerie Veatch, film director and John Legere, Executive Producer and CEO, T-Mobile, moderated by Touré, co-host of The Cycle on MSNBC.
