About the Artist

Afruz Amighi is a sculptor and installation artist. Amighi’s installations use a subtle play of light and shadow to generate spaces that recall architectural history while simultaneously engaging with more complex themes of politics, violence, and displacement. Her work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Victoria & Albert Museum, and The Morgan Library & Museum, among others. Born in Iran in 1974 and raised in New York, she completed her BA in political science at Barnard College at Columbia University, before going on to complete her MFA at New York University.
