The American debut of the ground-breaking initiative I SING BEIJING. Founded in 2011, I SING BEIJING is a pioneering program that introduces Mandarin as a lyric language and brings to stage a new expression in the vocal arts by juxtaposing Western operatic traditions with the emerging genre of modern Chinese opera.

The concert features scenes and arias from Western favorites by composers including Rossini, Puccini and Bernstein, coupled with a historical tour of modern Chinese opera beginning from country folk opera from the 1940s, to modern classics of the 1950s and '60s to the most representative vocal works from contemporary China. Founded by the Office of Chinese Language Council International, China and produced by the Asian Council Performing Council, USA, in 2011, I SING BEIJING has attracted singers from world's top institutions, who represent talents mainly from the United States and 11 other countries including China.

Experience the familiar voices and exotic sounds along with singers from the West and China through this unique musical panorama; watch history be made in this celebration of musical heritages with I SING BEIJING. Presented in association with Asia Society.

Accompanied by The New York City Opera Orchestra
Conductor, Paul Nadler
Artistic Director of I SING BEIJING: Hao Jiang Tian
