Can tolerance and religious and political unity be found in a bowl of chickpeas?  Hummus! The Movie explores the incredible impact of this ancient, simple stable "superfood" by following the stories of three very different restaurateurs in Israel who find common ground in the love of this delicious food. Join us for a screening of this award-winning film followed by a Q&A with the executive producers and a special tasting of assorted hummus.

Hummus! The Movie is a Jerusalem University film that incorporates everything from the Guinness World Record for "The World's Largest Serving of Hummus," to a French Benedictine Monk of a mission to find the world's tastiest chickpeas, to a hip hop musician convinced of the geopolitical power of the meal in a masterful compilation that has won 10 international film awards.

Speakers:

Mitch Julis, Executive Producer of Hummus! The Movie is Co-Founder, Co-Chairman, and Co-CEO of Canyon Partners, LLC.  He is a graduate of the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University, Harvard Law School, and Harvard Business School.

Raphael Shore is an accomplished filmmaker and the producer of the critically-acclaimed films Beneath the Helmet, Israel Inside, and Crossing the Line. Shore is also the Founder and CEO of Jerusalem U and of The Clarion Project. He has been featured on CNN, The New York Times, and other leading media outlets. (Invited)

Chloé Valdary is the Director of Partnerships & Outreach at Jerusalem U. Chloé was named one of the top 100 people positively affecting Jewish life by Algemeiner and was a Tikvah fellow under Pulitzer Prize-winner Bret Stephens at the Wall Street Journal. Her outspoken defense of Israel, and championing of the Jewish people, can be seen in Jerusalem U videos, as well as in The Wall Street Journal, The Jerusalem Post, The Times of Israel, Tablet Magazine, Huffington Post, Israel Hayom, The Daily Beast, Al Jazeera + and others.

Tom Nagorski (moderator) is Executive Vice President of Asia Society. He joined the Asia Society following a three-decade career in journalism — having served most recently as Managing Editor for International Coverage at ABC News.
